San Diego Probate Lawyers Explain Why They Don’t Take Every Case
At the Grossman Law Firm, our clients know their case is our top priority. This is because we carefully select our caseload to best provide our clients with the personal attention they need. Because of this, there are cases we must decline every year.
Reasons for Declining a Client
In general, we might need to refuse a new client if:
- The case is outside our practice areas.
- We need to devote our full attention to current clients.
We also typically decline California probate cases where the estate isn’t worth enough to make the expense of probate worthwhile for the client.
Our attorneys might not be able to represent trustees in a California trust administration if:
- Trustees aren’t willing to work with us to help best understand their case.
- They won’t consider our firm’s advice.
- They aren’t willing to work with the other professionals needed to properly administer the California estate.
Finally, we frequently need to turn away cases started with another attorney. This is because such cases can create a disproportionate strain on our resources. However, sometimes trustees or executors find themselves struggling to communicate with their current attorney. Some even suspecting them to have oversold their expertise in the necessary practice areas. We have taken on clients in these circumstances.
